Tim de Paravicini

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Does anyone own one of his lathes/cutting systems?

Or is anyone familiar with his ideas about redesign of the RIAA standard cutting specs?

I have yet to purchase a lathe but I'm leaning towards the older mono techniques and his ideas sound very sound.

Thanks,
brendan

I don't know this guy, Tim de Paravicini. Is he current or an oldster?

Definitly an oldster.....He founded Esoteric Audio Research. Big time audiophile stuff. But there are all these references to.... well here read this:

His assertions about older elecrtical mono cutterheads are interesting.

I think this is a pic of his lathe (ortofon cutterhead?):
