How I suppressed T560 mixer

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

How I suppressed T560 mixer

Hi all,
I'm a newbie here and I read a lot of good things on this great forum since a week.
I'm using the T560 since 7 years and it's a very good lathe.
However, I want to add my contribution and share how I removed the mediocre mixer of my T560 Vinyl Recorder.

For this, I'm using Hifi parts that I already have in my studio.

- RIAA pre amp Cambridge CP2
- Headphone amplifier Pro-Ject Head Box SE II
- Passive knob volume
- 3 way audio switch x2

Results : better sound, less background noise, I'm happy :P

Hello
Thank you for sharing. I also have a t-560 since 2012 and one of the first improvements was to get rid of the cheap mixer
Best wishes!

Hi - Im pretty new to cutting and i just got the t-560 and im in doubt about the signal chain. Maybe you can help me?.
The doubt i have is if the vinyl optimizer should be before or after the (19" Main Unit with,RIAA encoder, Groove controller, Stylus heating regulation) before it goes on to the cutteramp.

Thanx in advance.

yeah toss the mixer and the vinyl optimizer, do it in the box.
I go audio interface -> meter -> amp -> head
making lathe cuts on a Presto 6N, HIFI stereo cuts on vinylrecorder
