Loudness in lacquer vs PC

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Loudness in lacquer vs PC

Hello dear Trolls,
I've got a question for somebody who cuts both lacquers an PC.
As PC is harder, I guess cuts may be quieter than lacquer, is that rigth?...If so, is just a little or is it really noticeable?
Does it make a big differnce when measuring sensitivity of a cutter head?(Thats why I'd like to know)
Thanks
Fela.

Well,
I mean policarbonate or other kind of plastic blanks, but being CUT, not embossed.
Thanks again!

You’ll have lower level on plastic, not because it’s plastic but because of stylus geometry.
You’ll have distorsion in high frequency.
But you can reach the same level than lacquers with proper stylus having specific geometry.
