Len Horowitz - Who here either trained under or practiced traits therefrom?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Len Horowitz - Who here either trained under or practiced traits therefrom?

I just ran across a cutter guy who claimed to have an
MFG from Horowitz University they been doing it so long.

Having considered him a mentor myself for the better
part of 30 years - I bit and asked what the MFG stood for -
and he answered kind of like smart-alecky - Master of Fine
Groove (presumably for 33 and other micgogroove cuts).

Two days later another guy said he had an MCG so I told
him (somewhat sarcastically) What's that supposed to be
Master of the Coarse Groove and he wrote back `No - but
I like that better and I'm gonna use it since 78 is my specialty.'

So who else here has MFGs and MCGs from Horowitz University?
Or Traugott University or Grundman University or De Luna etc.?

Should specify whether you trained under the guy personally
or just used a lot of the same techniques learned elsewhere.

I've trained under Len and Jacob Horowitz for the last decade. The most knowledgeable and generous folks out there by far. They taught me how to repair cutter heads and has always been available to indulge my ridiculous questions and crazy ideas. The Horowitz's and Markrob are the cream of the record cutting crop. Hands Down.
