Technics sp10 mkII tonearm?
Hi. Some time ago I bought a Technics SP 10 turntable to use in my Vinyl Recorder system. I have the turntable, the power supply, I have had it serviced and now it's turn to buy a tonearm for it...
Any suggestions? I don't want to spend a fortune on it, I'm just cutting for a hobby (10 years so far) and I'd like it to have a detachable headshell so I could use an Ortofon Concorde type stylus on it. Made the mistake of buying a Technics sl 1200 tonearm but its shape makes it impossible to adapt to the sp10. I used to have an SME 3900 but I hated it and sold it long ago.
Any of you can help?
Thanks!

Re: Technics sp10 mkII tonearm?
Hey! Congratulations with a fantastic record player. There are written a bunch of tips about what suits best online, but for my sp-15 I used a rega tone arm. I think it was a RB-250. They are easy to mount and sound pretty ok considering the price you can get one for second hand (or new). At least it’s a good start if anything.
Good luck!

Likewise, i'm using a Rega 250, easy to install and reasonably priced for what it is

Anyone tried a Jelco tonearm?

I saw an Eizz Tonearm for under 1,000 if you want a 12" one. Check out Schick as well if you want a SME type ARM.
Re: Technics sp10 mkII tonearm?
Isn't this tonearm used only for monitoring to check if there are skips on the record? If so, why do you guys buy an expensive tonearms?
Re: Technics sp10 mkII tonearm?
I use it a lot for exact heating and some realtime de-essing too
And like PMST said you really want it for calibration: volumes, eq curve even if your using the main unit as audio path
Re: Technics sp10 mkII tonearm?
I bought a beaten Rega Planar. Usually better price than arm only and got a great deal with fresh needle.
Asked a woodworker friend to cut the arm part of, glued a piece of wood to bottom and presto.
Hope this helps!

That's exactly what I was thinking lately! Probably the best/cheapest option.

SME 3009 Tonearm is commonly paired with the SP10.
