How to Make A a Vinyl Record From a Vinyl Record?

Once you have cut a master laquer, you have metal stampers created and have records pressed from them. Discuss manufacturing here. (Record Matrix Electroforming- Plating, Vinyl Record Pressing.)

We don;t promote or endorse pirating here so the title of this post has been changed.

The link describes how to use a vinyl record to make a mould using window cement. By pouring silicone in to the mould you can then make a positive of the mould and play it on your tunrtable. Repeat the process to make more copies.

Has anyone tried this?

ok thats very interesting. do you know what kind of plastic it is?
You know if there would be a plastic which we could get in liquid form (similar charasterictic to polycarbonate) we could then just do the same thing and we would have black discs to cut on.
anybody knows anything about it?
cheers

Boris
You can cast the negative in acrylic if you wish Or silicon rubber than make your posis with araldite but use less of the catalyst so as to keep it fluid rather than very thick in viscosity
It will take longer to cure thats all
Fibreglass epoxy has also been used succesfully for posis's
Not sure about cutting though it would be a bit rough I would have thought but it's worth a try
Nothing ventured nithing gained
Cheers

Anyone here has tried this?

It looks cool on the paper... But how does it sound in the end?
Is it easy to do? or are there many issues to deal with?

I spent a lot of time trying this, and never had good results at all. I couldn'[t keep the bubbles out of it, no matter what I did. Perhaps it's the moisture in the air in the pac nw, but it would not set smoothly.

I've heard about the bubbles issue.

There are some vaccum tools that could help. Even a (professionnal) vaccum bag.
I've read that we could use kind of a bag + our own vaccum to help... Dunno if it will be successful.

Other solution, vibrations?

The thing is, a professional vaccum for this purpose costs around $600.
