Another one bites the dust....

Once you have cut a master laquer, you have metal stampers created and have records pressed from them. Discuss manufacturing here. (Record Matrix Electroforming- Plating, Vinyl Record Pressing.)

Another one bites the dust....

Just found out that my Old Toolex, which was a rickety old thing, made up of various bits and pieces we found at scrap merchants - but - perfectly serviceable , and it was runnig up untill 18 months ago - got weighed in as scrap some months ago, along with all the plumbing, boiler, etc that I had sold to someone after my old friend had passed away ...

For the paltry some of £500 - this was over 3 ton of precious metel!

Feeling very deflated about this, As I was trying to locate it for a while - as the the scrap guys did not realise what they had ( after Id visted EVERY scrapyard within twenty mile radius to find it...) - they broke it down - destroyed - I was hanging on to the hope I could find it and start aging, to keep costs low, but this has almost put paid to the fact I will proberbly never press records again - it saddens me, but hey, that's life I suppose....

All THe Best to everyone trying to keep vinyl alive...

Wow that is a shame my friend. It always frustrates me to think of people trashing things others could use in this industry. I'm sure hundreds of lathes and other pressing gear have suffered their untimely death due to scrap metal houses.

Stay positive mate, you'll run across something else as long as you keep your thoughts going :)
all the best!

What a waste. John seemed very keen and positive when he bought this from you but it goes to show how difficult and frustrating record pressing can be. 500 pounds probably seemed like a good idea to him after all the grief. There are presses around so ahng in there!
