Man, you just can't let it go can you. You know full well what the OP is looking for and although I don't have an answers to help him or any witty replies, your crusade has gotten a bit old. Please drop it.Serif wrote:Hi CV,
The chaps you seek are doing a trade which they will admit is actually called "electroforming." Chaps who do electroplating proper are not typically also able to electroform stampers, unless they are in the common practice of referring to what they do only as the ekename, "plating" - even though they are only reverse-plating onto the electroform, which isn't really electroplating - it's electroforming (get me?). Plating is a different effort which usually entails running a pulling bath faster and briefer with addition agents (for lustre) that would be, essentially, pollution in an electroforming tank. The goal of the plater is to finish a piece of metal with a phase of metal which has different properties than the substrate and which is not to be removed. In contra-distinction, the electroformer's goal is to build up a new piece of metal (not finish an old one) and be able easily to PART the formed metal piece from the mandrel (or disc mistress).
I offer this Nickel button of wisdom so that you might more effectively locate your new contractors. They are not really galvanizing, even though it's a sexy word which would be cool to use if it were true... To galvanize means "to energize or inspire to take action by means of (bio-)electricity." It also means physically plating Zinc. Named after Luigi Galvani who was interested in galvanizing frog legs. However, it is Luigi Brugnatelli who is the father of Electrodeposition (the umbrella term for electroforming and electroplating).
