Learned a looooooot of stuff reading here in the forums but my curiosity is still missing something.
How the record thickness is controlled in the process of pressing? Is it there some piece of metal which keeps both matrixes separated for let's say 2mm or this is combination of amount of pressure per time?

The depth of the mould cavity determines the thickness of the record.

If so that's a considerable amount of investment to buy specific moulds tp produce 180g records which won't necessarily be used 100% of the time...
