what exactly happens after cutting the laquer disc?
I dont get it thats pretty much the only thing i dont understand in pressing a record. all the other processes make sense to me.
so you cut the masters (laquer) a and b side (2 discs)
i know you need the galvanics to get the grooves onto the stamper but how.
do you clamp the steel disc onto the laquer disc and put it into the bath?
i cant really find any information about this process.
and what about dmm?
you cut straight into copper and use this copper disc as the stamper straight into the press?
thanks for any info.
cheers

The DMM master disc once cut acts as the mother. It is not used as a stamper. The DMM disc is passivated to form a separation layer as any master or mother is passivated before it goes into the electroforming tank to form a stamper.
The VMS70 turntable does not have enough torque to cut a copper coated disc and the suspension box is different to support the SX82 and SX84 DMM heads. Quite a few DMM lathes were converted to lacquer cutting by changing the suspension box and using the SX74 cutting chain. this is why there are a few VMS 66 and 70 lathes around with a missing suspension box.
