Last remaining Philips Auto press??
Hello Everybody.
This is (probably) the last remaining Philips automatic record press.
The press was located in Greece.
I/We are not 100% sure that it is a Philips press and I am also not sure if it is the last one.
I told Mr. Moss my part of the story about the machine and he filled the gaps with the information that he has
but the story is not complete.
It is pleasant for the human mind to have some mystery.
After buying the machine, I found an operator from the Greek factory (which doesn't exist anymore), who remembered
that these presses were bought from a working factory in Holland around 1979-1980. He didn't remember the brand
and this is expected as the machine is unbranded. The operator told me also that when the Greek factory
gave away these machines for scrap metal, he selected the best one in condition to keep, because the management wanted to have one for ''historical'' reasons
and this is all I know about this press.
Mr. Moss told me that since it comes from Holland and it is unbranded it should be Philips (Philips used to manufacture custom made presses and
were not putting sign on them). He also told me that the Dutch factory sold it's equipment in two parts before closing around the time mentioned
by the Greek operator.
Here the story ends.
I will appreciate a lot if anyone could provide technical and historical information about this beautiful and as it seems unique machine.
The press is in a good general condition and it is complete with it's extruder and control unit.
I uploaded an attachment file with photos of the press and it's peripherals.
This is a link to download all photos, since I can upload here only four.

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

Re: Last remaining Philips custom made Automatic press.
This is certainly a unique machine. Well done in finding it.
The automatic presses I saw that came out of the Philips-owned PolyGram New Zealand plant were branded "Kamal" and had a built-in hydraulic tank and pump with a hydraulic accumulator on the left hand side as you look at the front of the press.
Philips owned plants typically used the Philips 12" profile with a thick rim about 3mm wide under the inner edge of the label. The centre bush ring around the centre hole is about 1" in diameter. I think thie moulds in this machine use a small centre hole so the centre bush leaves a ring around the centre hole about 15mm in diameter.

Re: Last remaining Philips Auto press??
I just bumped into a fellow who worked at PolyGram New Zealand and he said the Philips presses they had there were branded "P.R.A". I saw those presses around 1987 and I recall they were branded "Kamal" so... who to believe?
Here's a photo of the PolyGram UK plant. Maybe this will help?

1) The extruder's hopper it looks the same. I didn't upload any photos of it but even so many hoppers look similar.
2) If you observe the metal structure and the legs of the control unit behind Brian Ferry
are similar to the controler's Photo I sent. The best would be to find a photo of UK's or New Zeland's Philips pressing plants.

Re: Last remaining Philips Auto press??
Sorry, I mean to find photos of presses from these factories.
