Bath Wars: watts vs barretts

Once you have cut a master laquer, you have metal stampers created and have records pressed from them. Discuss manufacturing here. (Record Matrix Electroforming- Plating, Vinyl Record Pressing.)

Bath Wars: watts vs barretts

Ive been wondering about nickel galvanics... Im assuming everyone here is using a barretts type sulphamate bath with S or D annodes?

Why did the plants of old switch over from the watts solution with pure nickel annodes? Was is cost? Or production quality? Or maybe even EPA guidelines?

What are the fundamental differences between the 2 and why did one become the norm?

Cheers

The reason i ask is because a friend of mine is doing a similar diy galvanics setup. But he purchased chemicals for a watts bath using pure nickel annodes. Im wondering what the pros and cons might be for his electroforming.
