Anti slip serrations on 7" records

Once you have cut a master laquer, you have metal stampers created and have records pressed from them. Discuss manufacturing here. (Record Matrix Electroforming- Plating, Vinyl Record Pressing.)

Anti slip serrations on 7" records

HI

I was wondering if anyone had any photos or more info on the molds that would have had gripper ridges on them. (The bumps around the outside of labels on 45s to stop them slipping on stackable record players)

Purely curious as I've never seen any stock footage or anything on them.

The "anti-slip ring" (or the so-called 'necklace') on 7" records during the heyday of record stackers was created by the stamper forming tool These ridges are therefore not on the record pressing mould - just the stampers. Once their used was phased out, you will see a raised ring around the outer part of the label. The ridges in the stamper would sit on this raised ring.

Aha! Very interesting! What stopped the ridges flattening out (or at least losing their definition) on the press?
Also wouldn't the cavity under the ridges cause pressing issues with an accumulation of dust?
Are there any pictures out there?
