Stylus falls out (HELP!)
My stylus keeps falling out of my cutter head. It's an Neumann SX 74 cutting head on a Neumann VG 74b.... It will cut unmoved grooves fine but when I start sending it modulated cuts it falls out after a couple minutes.... Any ideas?.... Am I simply not pushing it in enough (carefully of course)

Maybe you need a new torque tube
Re: Stylus falls out (HELP!)
Is this the first time this has happened?
There are times when the stylus shank is fabricated out of spec.
You can check it with a micrometer at both ends and compare that to an older stylus for your own info.
If you feel it's out of spec, contact apollo for an exchange.

Re: Stylus falls out (HELP!)
Try using a toothpick dipped in alcohol or a little Acetone, to clean the taper hole on the head where the stylus goes
Do it under a magnifying glass, make sure that you do not have any access liquid to drip on the head anywhere
If you chew the end of the toothpick to break up the fibers even better, make sure there are no bits left in the hole
Than place a stylus on the shank and give it a slight twist left and right with as little pressure as possible
You may than try a stylus and proceed in cutting
Most likely there is some debris in there or some oily material stopping it from making good contact
Let us know how you go
