I was wondering what converters everybody is using out there. I use a Lynx II card with six outputs and am pretty happy. I was wondering how everybody else manages their outputs and if they think a soundcard solution or external converter solution offers the best quality.

Higher quality external converters are a better. You pay a lot for a little the further up the chain you go. I used a Lynx2 for years and the conversion quality is very good. No need to give any refunds. Then I used a Lavry Blue. It was better. Now I use a Prism DA2 which is better than both but a zillion times more money.

I actually use a Mackie Satellite , very high output levels (compared with M-Audio , M-audio was for me like this strato bad quality copy that buy when have 15 years old , you know ? ).

Someone try Digital Audio Denmark ? , I'm thinking in get one for our main studio (he he he , and can get it to the cutting room when no people mixing in the other room).
Very Busy days , some cutting works at least , soon online again

We must promote the use and abuse of vinyl records.

@ Gold. Wow Paul, you are not kidding. That is one expensive piece of gear. I guess if it came down to budgeting for a spare cutter head or this, right now I think the cutter would win.

3 x PrismSound Orfeus for 2 x VMS-84 and 1 x VMS-70.
4-channel outputs used + always recording of feedback + occasional recoding of vinyl records / lacquers / copper plates.

Hehe, I'm typing faster than thinking :)
Both heads are SX-84, racks are SAL-84 and 82, both lathes are VMS-82 of course. Too many similar numbers...

I use the Focusrite Blue 245 A-D converter going in and the Blue 260 D-A converter going out. Still looking for a lathe to hook them up to.

intersting, lots of people feeding preview and cutting destinations with different dac's.

personally i don't like the lynx (pci) analog outs. but i guess it depends on what you compare it with.

lavry blues here now.

At one point I had both a Cranesong Hedd and a Mytek DAC depending on source material. will add a Forsell by 2012 here.

Here we use a Benchmark DAC1 for modulation / cutting and the lnyx TWO outputs for preview. I had a mytek too but for me the Benchmark fits better..
