Bad batch of Adamant Styli?

Anyone experiencing heating issues with Adamant Styli? I've been using the NSH-2s off and on for years and never had an issue until now. The heating wire doesn't seem to be transmitting the proper amount of heat to the stylus. You can touch the stylus at .5 amps. You have to apply over 1 amp to get the wires to glow. I thought it was a problem with my Scully system at first, but I mounted the same head/stylus combo on my Neumann and the same issue. Len Horowitz came by and we rewound the stylus with new wire and it was fine. Thought it was just a bad one until I mounted a new Adamant this morning with the same issue. I ended up using a spare Transco 320 A and it was fine. Anyone else have this issue? I spoke with Apollo this morning and since they just distribute the Adamant (made in Japan) they we not willing to do much. I've got a call into Len to see if he can do some research…
