If i could drop the head and know it will come up on its own that would be enough for me.
i can handle the audio control

I think a better approach would be to have the box respond to MIDI notes. Sort of the opposite of what you are proposing. Set up the loop the way you want in the DAW and have the MIDI notes trigger the box. One note for head drop and another for head lift. Just move the notes for needed offsets.

I can make it a button for manually starting the process. I can also make it take MIDI notes for this no problem. Thanks for the suggestion. All will be implemented!

Some people don't use a DAW so MIDI would not be useful. Be nice to have the box work both ways.

I could also add a relay for starting a tape deck.
