Yeah I actually just found my first odd acetate, It is called a "Sanders Recording" acetate disc. A little peeled up on one side, unplayable on a couple bands due to exposed aluminum. Seems to be an audition or demo disc. Not sure who it is.

I should try to rip it myself and post it here. Did not think anyone else instinctually ripped acetates. Gotta love that.

And Jose fritz, How did you know we were talking about you? Someone tip you off?

I became aware of you fun-loving lathe trolls because this post began sending me web traffic, which is a very friendly introduction.

Good luck with those broken bands. I had some luck with one on "Leach Disck" using the old DJ slip mat trick to catch eash segment manually.

I've seen a few acetates from Sanders Recording Studios. I think those discs were mostly audiodisc blanks? They did a lot of different bands... it could easily be obscure free jazz or something. I'd love to hear it.

I reminds me of a story about a friend of mine who got his Canadian passport photos done at the one and only place in Bristol UK that provides the service - once when he was 15 and once again 10 years later. The second time he went, they gave him an old copy they had saved instead of the new one. It took him a while to work out what had happened to his beard and long hair...

I finally got around to ripping the couple of radio acetates I've come across locally. They're both snippets of interviews with a prominent area businessman in the 1940s. My plan is to track down some of his remaining relatives and get them a copy so they can all hear great-great Granddad talk about his childhood in the 1890s for Christmas!

I digitized a delicate paper-core 5-inch Phonocord aceate last night. The audio is surprisingly good. Love letter of sorts but the daft kid loses the plot a bit tells a story about a cat crapping in the kitchen sink, and asks for a pair of tights... it's odd.
