Neumann SX74 vs. Caruso
Hervé from DK Mastering Paris made some Testtracks and sent to me recently. thansk a bunch for that.
the cutting system is VMS66 with Pitch13, Lyrec Motor and SAL74B with new C-Type FloKaSon FBInput Cards.
So he is able to use both heads on same Rack.
The Caruso is Nr.130 an exchange head with technical data i would never sell to a customer. normally they are even much better.
but it was the only one i could could provide for the tests.
i dont know anything about the playback system but will find it out.
neumann is standard 9dB @5 kHz adjustment.
Caruso is adjusted with 20db/22dB of Feedback at 1 kHz. which is lower than normal.i thought it needs at least 27-28dB..but maybe not with the SAL rack.
Nr.1,3,5 is Neumann SX74
Nr.2,4,6,7 is Caruso 6 is at the end of the record. track 7 is at outside of the recording diameter starting at 12 inch.
there was some EQ settings with a Weiss digital EQ for caruso:
13kHz -2dB Q:5
8kHz, -1dB, Q: 4
so you can download under:
either MP3 approx. 8 MB or 42 MB for WAV

i dont know yet the level of 1kHz tone at the beginning . either 5cm/s or 7cm/s i will find it out.
happy cutting
