My DC Regulated power supply for stylus heating was shorted by loose heating wire connection on cutterhead so not regulating, and am getting pops on all of my cuts as well as the heating wires were being burnt on stylus even with low current. I have tried cutting with a more powerful heat lamp and get good chip and sound is good but still pops and this is without using stylus heating, i am waiting for the arrival of a new power supply will this fix it or could the styli be damaged? am getting a good chip and perfect sound except for these random pops i have been cutting these without problems for a while a little stumped.

I truly feel heating is the way to go. Did you solve the issue? Stylus do wear faster when cold.
