cutting on Boston Audio Graphite MAT ?

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

Each side if the Mat 1 receives three micro thin coats of a proprietary sealant that are applied by hand with automotive-quality HVLP spray systems.
Its got some sort of coating on it, not sure if that is good or bad..
generally its for reproduction.. but i like to play wif it sometimes.. :P

Graphite can be softer than Tin Lead solder.
the coating avoids desintegration = good.
like those pencils that desintegrate so easy...

IMHO grafit is too fragile, you need a perfect clean
surface and perfect groove walls.
silver and gold -> very expensive, but I think, some
audiophile nerds will pay a lot for a goldplated and proper
cut gold plated steel plate...
for playback a turntable with vaccum suction is recommended,
I think, there is one available for 100.000 Euros, with absolut
noise free vaccuum pump....
oh my god... who needs that?

Although probably still to fragile, this could have potential:

Background noise is all I would expect from a material like graphite. You need something that is mirror surfaced. I just don't think you'll find that. Also, if there is a protective spray added to the mix, as was stated before, it might mess with electroplating. Might keep the silver spray from adhering appropriately.
