Here are some snippets using an early version of my standalone preamp running the digital correction eq.

Cutting chain is Ableton running only iRIAA VST and a touch of increased stereo width from BX Solo- out the NI Z2 interface at 48kHz- then in-and-out of my correction EQ at 92kHz (DACADAC )- QSC GX3 amp- SmokeStack Lightning head.

MyShank black 12 with 320P, heat lamp, no stylus heat, no vacuum (still brush swarf pickup ).
Tones are 1kHz, 7cm/sec.
Playback is M44-7 on the 1200, NI Z2, Ableton.

Couple of updates here from my Sillitoe_Lathes instagram feed.

Feedback head underway to suit the more expensive lathe.
I've designed a more affordable lathe to suit my feed-forward system, first prototype parts arriving next week!

Delivering the first lathe to the owner next week, these will actually become available this year!

Will you be selling just the cutterhead ?

Hi Aaron,

I will indeed!

I'm thinking of doing a preliminary run of the feed-forward dynamic SmokeStack Lightning heads for experimenters who are comfortable cutting from a DAW running a preset for FabFilter Pro Q2 and IRIAA plugins.

This would be a deal for the head alone, with the plugin preset emailed to the user along with basic instructions for use (DAW settings, how to connect fuses to the power amp outputs etc).
My recommended power amp for this basic setup is the QSC GX3, a DAC/interface is also required.

If I get 10 or more experimenters interested in this deal I can offer the heads for somewhere around $1200- $1500AUD each- some money from each sale will go to support Lathetrolls.

Standalone cutterhead correction units will be available in the future for plug and play cutting with adjustable stylus heating built in.
These will retrofit for any of the heads which are purchased separately as I will have the correction settings for each head saved.

Anyone interested- please PM me with serious enquiries (this option will not suit everyone, these heads won't fit Presto 6N or Rek-O-Kut style overheads, if you don't understand what I'm on about here then you might prefer waiting for developments in the near future ).

Your design of the cutterhead as shown in this photo is an excellent example of designing this complex part to meet the necessary limitations of 3-axis CNC milling. If I taught machine design, this would be in my textbook

Quiet tests on 10" lacquer (about -8dB at loudest peak of third track- relative to 1kHz 7cm/sec... which isn't included in the file hehe).

No stylus heat.

Im no expert, but your cut sound excellent to my ears. Think your head would fit nicely to a T560 & SP10 combo and soundwise it would e a huge improvement, may someday. Cheers, Crates
