Now I got a problem with vacuum suction, it can not suck the static, static always got stuck behind the needle . I don't know if my vacuum pump is too weak or may caused of other reason, 2mm from suction tube to needle and blank. Here is the datasheet image, can someone tell me if it is powerful enough?

Hey not an expert but I'm using a rietschle vte8.
It has a 133l/min max airflow and I run it at 80% speed most of the time. I do however use a lot of duct tape instead of 'real' connectors, so I guess I do have quite a few vacuum losses. My previous pump which did not work had a
118l/min airflow, but was a piston pump, not a rotary vane pump. I suspect the previous pump did not work well was because of the flow ripple of using a single piston vac pump.

Are you planning on implementing a controller to lift the cutting head up and down? Also, does the pot work fairly accurately for groove width?

In terms of static I don't have much personal experience but I know Todd from Deep Groove Mastering has a video on cutting plastic where he is very cautious about static. Maybe you can get some information from that?

I didn't test this stepper motor, and don't know if it produce vibration or background noise. About the controller to lift the cutting head up and down may be later, after testing this
I have tried cutting many times, but always get noise at some first seconds (5 - 10 seconds) I didnt apply the wax spray and no heating the stylus.

I'm using the same controller and motor and haven't noticed any noise.

My plan is to eventually use a dashpot and servo to raise and lower the cutting head, I need to rethink my overhead as at the moment it is not as secure as it should be.

Cutting plastic is outside of my experience but failing to get an anti static spray there seem to be a few diy alternatives that could work online?

Finally, it works!
I'm using a rotary vane pump, it is too strong so I did 2 input lines to minus air flow, that make noise as a flute.

I've cut ten times without anti static, but failed, so I decided to use the anti-static (for clothes, made in Russia, I dont know the name, you can see in the video) and it works really well.
and the result is ok for me!

Iam happy with I have done up to now, any way need to reduce the vacuum noise

Nice work so far... in terms of the blanks: I know that feeling. I'm just working through something similar myself.

Just out of interest, what angle are you cutting at and with how much weight?

It is vertical angle (~90 deg or less) and about 12 - 15gram weight.
I can adjust up to 25 minutes per side with this lathe controller
Everything is ok now and I'm planning to make another "body" for the lathe.

The dashpot I'd made from an injection cylinder, so don't really know it is a pull nor push one.

Its hard to keep the blank disc flat while cutting that killed some blank discs.
I have just bought a Disc Stabilizer - Audio-Technica AT666. Used, no vacuum pump, just the disc, 100$ does it worth?
Is there anyone have used this one for cutting?
I will test soon and hope its ok.
