Weird grooves

Hi everyone, after many good cuts, the problems arrived!!
… hahaha
If someone had weird cut grooves like that
And you solved the problems!
Please let me know what cause this weird
Grooves.
The weird thing is that I cut this at 12g silent
Cut no music.
All mechanic leveled and tight fixed..lol

check whether the bearing suspension works smoothly and without any jams, and check the leveling of the skid plate base with a mechanical depth sensor, error of deviations on the outside
the diameter of the cap should not exceed 0.01 mm

this happened to me when the wires for the cutting head were getting caught on the lathe overhead, not allowing the head to advance freely

Hi guys so here’s some new pics and a video about my last issues.
I did lot’s of adjustment and the problem
Still persistent.. lol
Really weird ?
The weight set up on the pics and the video
Are adjusted at 12 grams and around 5 degree
Angle.
And it looks like I’m cutting over 35 grams…
Lol!
Of coarse my set up machine is pretty different
Of many lathe ..But my machine made is proof before the problems starts..
Now it’s to get back on the sweet spot settings.
The diamond still look good , but maybe it can
Be the diamond too.
It’s hard to see on the video but you see
The cutting head oscillating up and down

The pictures are good and easy to recognize. At times no cut! Cut starts, runs for a few seconds, then cut ends again. Is that the way I see it?

The video also shows the vibrating head well. Although the slab blank is flat. Music can be heard.

The stylus looks good.

My question: Does this also happen when you cut without sound? Silent cut?
(Because then the problem is limited to the arm suspension. Unfortunately, I don't know the construction of the long arm and therefore can't say whether the construction can start to vibrate when the feed is active. )

I would try maybe mess with the vertical angle of the needle. By the look of the video it seems that head is at an angle leaning to the front a bit which makes the needle also be at a "digging in" angle. When its in this configuration it is more prone to jump (try drag something edgy along some surface, kinda like cat scratching action, it skips as it moves). So you could try set the head height a bit lower, readjust everything for the centerline alignment, so that the stylus is 90 degrees vertical with the disc, dial in the weight and try do some cuts.

Another point is the balancing platform where the head rides, when its hinge point is very far a way on the back and there is a similar counterweight on the back of it all, it has a slower balancing inertia, if i can call it this way. Imagine you take a long wood stick and balance it on top of something in the middle, the longer the bar is, the easier it will be to push it from the edges, up or down, and it will move slowly to balance or to tip over, you will push it and if its heavier on the side where you pushed it, it will first slowly rise and then naturally fall down. Now imagine a short stick, also balancing it on a center, it will tend to balance out or tip over much faster than if it was long. Same effect happens here to an extent: a bump on the uneven disc surface makes the head move slightly up, gain some inertia, then the bump is gone and the head goes down by its own weight, but the "efficiency" of this depends on many of these factors like disc flatness, balancer platform length, distance from the stylus to the hinge of the platform, head height, needle angle, needle temperature/disc surface quality, RPM of the disc, weight of needle on disc, type of hinge used in the balancer platform, etc.

Yea it did the same issue without music.
I know my master EQ’s are fine , the head works perfectly fine.

like Kostix says is for sure a mechanical issue.

Since I played with the counter weight
Setting the problem starts probably from

My counter weight is probably too far now.
I’m gonna have to start from 0 reset everything
Back like it was.

Because I know my set up works! I had
Lots of good cuts before it starts to going
Bad.I cutted few lp’s for my band and the
With cut in/out grooves and the sound
Was AMAZING high fidelity!!
so I know is not the TKV head.
I made the test of the paper cone and
The sound vibrations is perfect.

1/16-1/8 inch off in the mechanical settings versus in micro grooves it can
Be a total mess!!
Hahaha

I’ll keep you guys posted with my solutions.

ok yeah for sure - so are you cutting on the T560 with a TKV head?
It took me adding extra weight to the head and adjusting the counterweight a lot to get it right.
otherwise a regular 15g weight on the cutting needle will require too much dashpot, and lift the head/drop the head throughout the side.

No it’s not the model from Souri
I wrote to him once and I had to flew to Germany to get one and it was sadly not possible at this time 4 years ago for me.
I went back in the project last year when I bought that old Presto k8 on eBay.
Almost 5000$$$ with shipping Canadian money!!
And I end up with this old Presto not really
In good shape I expected ,but I was really
Exited!
It was my first lathe cut machine recorder
Ever!
After fucking around for month I decided
To strip it off and totally build up a new machine with!
Why not!
So I got inspired by the Vanrock.
A friend at work who having a 3D printer help
Me to build my parts.And I ordered a TKV from
Mike build of coarse by Konstantin!
I love the TKV it was like dealing with a wild
Animal at the beginning but after lots of good tips by Konstantin and help cause I sent him
The head once to have a look at cause I was not 100% sure of the wiring I made.
And after Konstantin send it back To me
It was night and day
I started cutting really good quality audio
On polys black! It was amazing
And that issues happens after I was to confident and I played with the settings
Blind! Eyes! Lol

Eventually when I will be back on the right thing with the cutter I will reproduce the 3D parts in aluminum.
But believe me this set up works pretty good
The issues I got right now got cause by my curiosity and fucking around with the settings
…so I can cut stereo and mono on the refurbished tube mono amp.
I got an Audax r56( got services by west tech audio Ohio 2 month ago).
I didn’t tried the refurbished Audax yet cause I
Use the TKV right now.

Next time I have a good cut I will keep This settings and stop experiment.

Also I forgot I changed the platter and had
A new one.
A machine shop made me the strap groove.
And the base to receive the new platter.
The platter run really flat on a bearings.
The motor got build and design by Jed in Berlin
I guess.I ordered from him last year.
And me and my friend build the cutting balance tone arm.

The vacuum tip arm got design and build
By Konstantin.
I just figured out a way to hook it separately
From the swing balance tone arm.
To not affected the cut.

So far I believe it’s my counter weight who
Give me headaches…

Good news!
I made a test cut finally with a Sapphire brand new from Mike and the grooves are perfect !
No shaking on the tone arm, so Konstantin was
Right cutting on old piece of Lexan from my job probably ruined my diamond quick
And when I went back cutting on Mike polycarbonates the diamond was just dull and
Not proper to do is job.

Cause for the mechanic everything is set up
Good right on the bulls eye and the platter runs perfectly flat.
