The farmer and his plow - When I set out to build a record cutter

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

The housing - completion:

I printed out some nice lettering using a foil plotter. And a logo.

I then attached this all around the housing.
I like it this way.

The wedding:

Here is a short video. I recorded the assembly of the housing with the lathe for you in fast motion.
In real time, the entire assembly took about 15 minutes.

So now everything is fully assembled.
I took a few more photos (assembled), which I will post as soon as I have time to sort through them all.

All in all, the assembly went well. Since everything was well planned, every screw fit perfectly and it works flawlessly.

Now that's what I call giving the people what they want! Absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't conceptualize how the housing would fit the machine, but wow. It must have felt very satisfying to slide it over the machine. Congratulations!

Respect.
Everything's put together.
Now I'm just waiting for YouTube and the video of the recordings.
It would be useful to have handles for carrying a vinyl recorder, like those found on the Vestax VRX2000, etc. :)

Satisfying? I can't even begin to describe how satisfying it was!

Carrying handles? The Vestax is nothing like my lathe. The VRX2000 weighs just 26 kg. The designer who came up with these monstrous handles must have been on drugs. My device weighs about 70 kg and cannot be carried by one person. (More like two or four people). I developed removable carrying bars for transport. After transport, the openings are closed with plugs.

I don't post on YouTube. The rules for publishing music there are too strict.

When I first started experimenting, I also recorded other people's voices, singers' voices, and other people's music. Now I don't do that anymore because I record my own voice first, so no one can accuse me of plagiarism, which is subject to copyright. It's as simple as recording vinyl records: record your voice and upload it to YouTube, just like Thomas Edison did, recording his voice on a cylinder covered with gold foil. It would be something to hear your voice recorded on your recorder, wouldn't it? :)

It's very easy to determine your device's parameters, etc. It's best to record using the line-out (not the microphone) from your recorder to your computer's line-in, but that's up to you. I post my recordings on YouTube and no one has blocked me so far.

The guy who has the VRX2000 also records videos using the line-out and line-in, and no one has blocked him either.
Unless there's something you can't say. :)

Here is a short video

Before I start recording, I always play the piece of music in the range with the highest peaks and check the deflection level to make sure everything is OK.
The music must be clearly audible at the cutting head, the level indicator should not exceed 0dB, and the peak indicator should not remain lit continuously.
