Sounding totally great!! Congratulations!

The compensation EQ looks good. I guess it will be a good amount of testing before it is setup totally right, and even then it will vary with program material. With the current setup and content, I am finding it a touch 'crispy' and maybe a little mid-scooped.

That 13kHz-14kHz spike, within the dip and after the sharp cut on your fabfilter, seems to be right in the hotspot of what I am finding crispy. Now I mustn't forget that this is a compensation EQ so things might need to be extreme, but many mastering engineers have taught me to: find the desired frequency using high gain and low bandwidth, then reduce gain and broaden bandwidth, set to 'light' taste– go under rather than overboard with parametrics.

Are you doing any mid-side processing? It might be fun for this.

This sounds fantastic. Flo's Caruso head is very hard to get a hold of. I have been on his waiting list for nearly as long as I've been playing with a DIY head design. If the truth be told, I would abandon all my DIY projects if I could actually get my hands on a real Caruso. The whole DIY process has been extremely interesting and I have learned an amazing amount of stuff, but at some point you have to weigh the time spent trying to figure out what works and what doesn't VS getting your hands on the real deal. Caruso is the real (modern) deal in my opinion. I'm sure you agree.

Simply amazing. Congratulations for the result. Pro-Q Vst is powerful. I'm still having trouble keeping high frequencies in my cutting head, but I believe I'm close to getting cut with similar quality. All are achieving fantastic results with their projects, thanks to all.

I agree Bryan, Caruso is the real deal, Flo is the real deal.

Here's the recreation of the corrective EQ from a cut of white noise, you will no doubt be engrossed in this amazing peice of contempory cinema. I sped it up to 400% to increase the action while maintaining the crucial element of suspense.
The last attenuation at 6kHz is to tame sibilance.

Very nice plugin with real time analysis tools that made this easy.

Tweaked EQ a little, 7cm/sec tone, quiet cut, sibilance, lacking some highs and stereo width... But overall it's getting better.

Somewhat of a rarity, you will need to dig deep to find the lossless original file for comparison...

Haha, thanks mate! Things are going well.

Yes, the voltage going to the head drop mechanism can be adjusted via a 25 turn trimpot.
The setting that I'm currently using isn't quite as noisy as in those previous videos.
Once you've calibrated the dashpot and spring you can dial in the minimum voltage needed to push the ramp on the pivot bar to lift the head, then you adjust the suspension box height.
I have added a fine adjustment for the suspension box height allowing the user to adjust in 0.01mm increments.

I will make a video detailing these and other functions of the lathe, but I've decided to wait until I've finished off some other things.
