what size nichrome wire?..

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

I have a diamond stylus that has no heating wire, I tired to salvage one off an old sapphire, but wire broke while unraveling it. Does anyone know what size wire i should by to put on this stylus.

just serached, looks like 36g or .005" will work, and so does 40g

It was suggested to me to use Dental Cement to hold the NiChrome wire in place on the stylus. Thought I would share that tid-bit of info.

you mention cement for temporary fillings,
I have tried this stuff and it was garbage - totally useless
now the cement used by a dentist may be ok, for sale on ebay
but never tried it yet.
I buy nichrome used for cutting polystyrene it works fine but don't know
the gauge.

Yeah, temporary filling cement didnt work for me. I use elmers glue. Not ideal, and after while it comes loose or starts to stick to the swarf, but works in a pinch.
