That;s really cool! The little disc in the middle that advances the needle is identical to the one on the GE Play Talk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47r2K1V4fpg) that I have. That's NOT my video, by the way. The Play talk is pretty sweet... it uses a turntable to record onto a magnetic disc using a regular looking tape head. One of these days I'm going to get it fixed.
I remember seeing ads in the back of comic books for a similar toy in the early 60s or late 50s. It was an attachment that would fit any record player. An inner disc tracked the outter cutting needle to make records on special blanks. I remember it stated "telephone quality" recordings. Probably pretty bad, but I know I wanted one. Anyone else remember those?

Those show up now & then in "juke" searches on the Bay...ArchaicRecords wrote:In the late 70s / early 80s, I saw a toy cylinder record player. It had a fairly large light-blue cylinder which had several tracks of songs across it. I have never seen one since. Has anyone else seen such a thing?
