Glass Stylus On Polycarbonate

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

Any suggestions other than surface oil or realigning the glass as this was done in this recording:

I can not think of anything else besides level and groove spacing, both of which were given very wide margins on this one.

I think I have done just about all I can do to get the best sound from a glass stylus with a 22 degree angle. This result was about 15 degrees in direction of rotation. Any suggestions on RIAA curve to compensate for arm resonance is welcome.

I think you are an innovator by even trying a glass stylus. How did you make such a thing?

By accident at first, LOL. A mirror had broken and when I was picking up the pieces I noticed one was a perfect 90* right angle :) so while my hot glue gun was warming up, I tested it across the clear centre of a CD and noticed it embossed not scratch or etch. Many things we use in the world today had their origins from good accidents.
I did discover, however, the tip was extremely fragile and did not like sudden pressure of being let down on the disc. I have replaced it more than 10 times until I found a surgical steel razor at right angle ( ... l ... to ... \/ ... ) was close to reproducing that result and far less fragile.

Ha! Keep at it. Accidents are the best way to discover.
