i built an electric edison cylinder lathe / first recording

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

using simple pillar and plate construction, i mounted an original Edison home B bed plate over an Edison ekonowatt electric motor out of an ediphone dictation machine and used an o ring as a drive belt to connect them together. the result is a electric cylinder lathe. i will be using this for my custom cylinder recordings. it is efficient, and really inexpensive to make. the recording process is now completely electric, no more spring powered phonographs !!! this is the first cylinder copy using the new cylinder lathe. this is recorded on a brown wax recording blank and is an mp3 transfer of the original 1908 cylinder recording minus the noise...
