I have built a turntable Platter and spindle.
I checked the vertical run out and Im getting .015"
Im am wondering what the tolerance is on other lathes .
anyone can check it by using a dial indicator on the top face of your turntable.
I measured a technic turntable and they have .005"
So you have the tools could you check and see where your at ?
Thanks

Re: vertical run out
I tested a platter I salvaged from an old technics [a consumer model with a reasonably sturdy looking platter, figured I could rig it up for DIY lathe purposes as the edges are 90º, useful for belt drive similar to VR 'precision platter'] and it had 0.020" max vertical runout. I dont imagine this is very much help but I thought I would chime in anyway.
I'm considering making a platter & spindle myself, what did you use/make for bearings?
