turntable bearing

I have been experimenting with turntable bearings.
I have built a turntable with 1 ball bearing in the middle like most standard turntables and i have another model with a roller bearing( size 50mm diam, 16mm thick )
My question is are there any other turntables with different types of bearings than these two?

Hmm good question..I only know the technics sl 1210 has 1 bearing at the bottom I'm not sure of other company's designs, anything on google searches ?

I have seen these before but haven't thought of using them.
.002" tir is too much when you measure 6 inches away

.1 degree of an angle will generate over .01" runout at 6" away

I already tried the taper method, it works...

Yeah I'm using a tapered roller bearing in my next build.
People have used Maglev bearings and air bearings for some high end stuff... I don't know much about it.

I built a magnetic levitation bearing, but it didn't give as good a result as I thought. it would have needed much more work to be good enough.

the air bearing idea is good too, but I don't like the fact that you would have to have an air compressor somewhere making all that noise and vibration.

Yeah, I was looking at this air bearing system that also included vacuum for the disk. Pretty interesting.

that looks pretty fancy, but what I really want to know are specs.
I doo like the bldc motor though, 900 isn't that bad..
but again , no specs , must contact, these are for playback turntables too...

Yes only for playback tables, imagine how much air you'd need to pump to support a Lyrec platter!
As for many audiophile products no specs are listed, instead claims of "best" and "highest performance" are given.
I just found it while researching possible designs to copy haha.
