1857 phonautograph / shipped to korea today

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

the museum had this machine overnighted to korea. the crate and machine weighed in at 85 pounds. this will be in the museum day after tomorrow. this is a delicate machine made almost entirely of wood, it has a long way to go. i spent 4 weeks working on this machine. i am biting my nails hoping it will arrive as shipped. the machine is immobile in the crate, captured on all sides and held down with three battens across the base plate that are secured directly to the crate. BUT if the crate is dropped it will do major damage no matter how it is packed.
