I'm building a lathe!

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

I'm building a lathe!

I'm building a lathe for my senior project in college. I wanted to see if anyone who has some experience in this would be willing to lend their expert opinion. I have a solid starting point (I hope) and plan on trying to cut mono onto CDs, mostly for price reasons. I'm open to any suggestions as I build my first prototype. What features are important for me to include? What lathe designs vintage or modern would be easy and cost effective to reproduce?

Thanks,

-Bay
