i should have put this in experimental but it is still a turntable..

That's actually a pretty cool idea. He could make polycarbonate records with different patterns on them and do a live p.a. with them using regular turntables and multiple arms like that which hook directly into a DJ mixer. He could make triggers for all sorts of different sounds, bass lines and pads etc.

It's the next wave of edm music.

P.s. If he uses this idea I want a free pair of the overhead playback pieces :) hehe

That was great! It reminds me of a crazy drum machine invention I ran into a few years back when I visited New Orleans. I picked up a VHS video of the Drum Buddy.

The guy that lives in my back yard has a weird art/noise project and part of it is a turntable with guitar picks taped to it at various intervals that strum a pre-tuned banjo. Wish I had a video of it... its pretty cool/
