What'cha working on?

Hello everyone, working on anything fun? I've been focusing on new releases from artists on my label, but making sure to reserve lots of time for fun, weirdo projects, including my new Lat(h)e Night Double Feature Bootleg Soundtrack series. These unofficial movie soundtracks are created at home by ripping the audio from VHS tapes and cutting my own soundtrack from the actual movie. Sure, you can buy a vinyl of a movie soundtrack with beautifully mastered, full songs curated for the movie, but what if you want to hear that 15 second part of the movie in which someone is whistling before someone else says, "Damnit, Johnson, stop that incessant sound!" or the movie's theme song interrupted by motorcycle engines revving as the film starts? And what if you want them in glorious VHS-quality audio instead of proper mastering? Just a bit of fun, haha! All summerlong my local Victorian cemetery has teamed up with the local film society to play movies on a giant inflatable screen, so I've been vending at those events to sell these records.

So far, the double features I've made are:
Mothra / War of the Robots
Female Vampire / Godzilla vs. Megalon
Vampire's Kiss / The Night Has Eyes

How about you? Working on anything cool?

Very cool displacedsnail! Are you copying the audio from a professionally made vhs or a home dub?

The last two pieces I had worked on was a double-sided square 7", two 2 minute garagey rock songs for a local two-piece.
The second is a compilation of songs recorded especially for the 40th birthday of the drummer in my band. It all started with a group chat to purchase her the ultimate self-servicing kitty litter box. I then chimed in on the chat to suggest we also make a record with songs dedicated to her. Later that week I'd received a bunch of really fun songs, some recorded as voice memos, others garage band and also the first time for some people creating their own music. For convenience, I kept the program the same with both sides featuring the 7 songs. The record was played nearly a dozen times at her party, there were some really cute tunes.

Hey Andy, yeah, they're from the VHS releases I've been finding at thrift stores. They sound crappy, but in that really great way, haha! Man, I LOVE the idea of that second record for your drummer's birthday. I feel like that's a real "I have a lathe, and I'm going to use it" kind of project. And what a great design!
