nice. i've always wondered what kind of needles would be safe to play normal records on a victrola as i would imagine the steel needles would just shred the vinyl or poly.
all the best!

I once cut a picnic plate of Biff Rose (60's era quirky songwriting star). We then served pasta on the plate and ate it, because he wanted to "Eat off his career."

I missed this question before. It was the crystal mic that came with the Recordio. The machine seems to be optimized to sound best with it...it even beats the sound of a direct line input of the same material. I think Gib Epling fixed the mic when he fixed everything else.

Well, that's sad! I wonder why Betsy took "Betsy's Place" offline. (EDIT: I've now replaced the original video.)

Here's my rather unscientific "Hobby" talk on plastic picnic plate recording which features a small section of the cable show.

That was a Recordio indeed! Restored by Gib at West Tech around 2005. The lovely wood molding was smashed up a bit a couple years ago by my movers. Irks the hell out of me. It's in storage right now and I don't even know if it works. It has not had so much use since I got the Presto working well.
