Never Records Project
Howdy all,
I wanted to share this project I've been doing for the past 3 years called Never Records. I been traveling around with my Vinyl Recorder and opening up temporary record shops that only stock vinyl that has been performed-recorded-cut in the shops. Nothing is for sale. It's about taking the money out of the record store and being left with a community space/living library, clubhouse. I cut two copies of the vinyl, one for the artists one for the NR archive, and I also give the performers a digital copy of their performance to use for their own edification.
Needless to say, it has been record cutting and engineering boot camp. In the past three years I have recorded over 350 sessions in London, Liverpool, Lisbon, Derry, and New Orleans and I have cut over 700 records. I head off next week to cut in Texas to promote a film we made about the Northern Ireland version.
The machine is holding up surprisingly well, but I just feel like I'm getting started. Trying to figure out intuitively the nuances of cutting and get beyond the troubleshooting fly by the seat of my pants thing.
In any case I love this forum and wanted to share my website and such
http://www.neverrecords.net
off to my studio to silkscreen record covers for texas...
thanks everyone for your time.

Re: Never Records Project
Welcome, Ted!
This looks like a fascinating project, and a great way to get back to the roots of local talent. Please, keep us informed!

hey Ted!
I'm a musician myself, and tons of my friends from around the country (specifically your stop in New Orleans)
told me great things about your project.
Best of luck, and you know where to come for help if you need!

Re: Never Records Project
Wish I'd known of the Derry session. Would have loved to have popped in. Cool idea.

Re: Never Records Project
Thanks all,
I probably will need help, because I might be headed to Liberia and want to get a more "portable" piece of gear. We'll be screening the Never Records film in Derry on or around June 4th.
