MAKING A DISC QUALITY RECORDING ON AN EDISON WAX CYLINDER
this is polymer recorder # 7 and its final test, this is an astounding recording for a cylinder phonograph. if your interested in recording this is a very easy and reasonably inexpensive way to do it. this sounds as good as many rek-o-kut disc recordings i have heard, actually better than some i have heard.
this is a 2:25 song on a black wax cylinder, recorded on this same Edison cylinder phonograph, thought i would post this, this is a really fun way to begin recording, a purely acoustic vertical cut format. this was the original record lathe....

ELVIS / TWO MINUTE WAX CYLINDER / POLYMER RECORDER # 8
this is the second test recording with the new polymer recorder, this is the audio from a you tube video transferred to the cylinder using the CANAPHONIC AUDIO DRIVER and playing through the CANAPHONIC ARCHIVETTE. recorded on an Edison standard B cylinder phonograph circa 1903. the new recorder with the polymer diaphragm is more efficient than either mica or glass diaphragms and can produce much higher volume recordings using the same amount of power.

Re: MAKING A DISC QUALITY RECORDING ON AN EDISON WAX CYLINDE
Also, it's interesting to note that all cylinder phonographs have lathes, and it's possible to record on any of them with the proper recording stylus and blank wax cylinders (although not all of them will have good results).
Edison was right in that the cylinder was a more correct format than disc because the recording velocity is the same throughout the recording, as well as the speed - the cylinder is both "CAV" and "CLV" (the "angular" and "linear" velocities remain the same throughout) all the time. It's just an inconvenient storage medium due to the unused space inside.

Fats Domino is a fave of mine. Very nice, Victrola guy! So this was #8? Now I want to track 'em all down.
