Just cut some lacquer after the Rek-O-Kut Challenger refurbish. The cutter head is RCA. The playback is with a GE "RPX" cartridge. All original stuff.

I can only hope mine does that well some day.
Was that off the playback amp direct to the video recorder?

I tapped into audio path at the volume control of the R-8A cutting/playback amplifier these things are fitted with right into into the camcorder's audio input. The later Challengers where fitted with GE VR-RPX magnetic cartridges for playback and the amps where redesigned to accommodate them. The RCA MI-4889 cutter head's voice coil was "smoked" and I had to wind a new one for it. The impedance may be off a bit so efficiency may suffer during recording. But, it does seem to work nevertheless. The disk blank used is an "AudioDisk" yellow and was cut with a DuoTone steel 3-mil cutting stylus.
