Lathe Comparisons
Howdy y'all. New to the forum. I have been working on a project for the last few months. My plan is to by a cutter and do a small run vinyl only label. I live in Austin, Texas and know a lot of musicians and have a lot of interest.
It will be arty and boutique for sure.
I was supposed to be getting a vinyl recorder out of Germany from Souri but has quit returning my emails and his American contact is not returning my calls. I need to move on as I have the funds to get something and need to move forward.
I am leaning towards the Swiss Dubcutter. But the exchange rate is not that great and it's pretty spendy.
I found this on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281377488429
I know these are not made anymore but can anyone tell me if they are sustainable? Ie parts, cutting needles, etc?

You won't have any luck ordering a vinylium from their site. They aren't really in bisiness anymore. Their head engineer Flo is doing his own thing now. Contact Flo directly. He might be able to get you sorted.

Re: Lathe Comparisons
Hi jtm,
Also in Austin and I've been interested in getting a disc recorder going for a while...
I'm the main technician at Switched On Music Electronics (working on old synths and tape machines etc)
If you decide to cobble together an old Presto lathe or something like that, I can do any type of electronic repair or refurbishment that you'd need, if I got to use the thing a bit
