Schematic for Vanrock/Atom 101?
Does anyone have a schematic for the Vanrock, or parts list, or done any replacement of capacitors in the preamp section of it?
I'm not having any issues with that part, but would like to go through and see what I could replace, and also check the circuit.

Re: Schematic for Vanrock/Atom 101?
fixed the platter not returning issue - it was total user error [face palm]
still would like to find a schematic to see about recapping it and what other audio improvements could be made to it.

Hi,
Why not just drive the head directly with a power amp of your own choosing? It might take a bit of tweaking to get it dialed in, but then you are future proofed. Since your unit is currently working, you can apply a sweep or noise signal to the input and measure the response and voltage drive levels needed at the head. If you disconnect the onboard electronics, you can even return it to factory status if you ever decide to sell.

I like that idea, Mark. Thanks.

Hi,
If you go that route, just be careful so that you don't blow the head. I recommend fusing the head with a 1/4A fast blow fuse to start with. Also, try to get a DC resistance measurement of the head drive coil with it disconnected from the on board amp. I would expect it to read in the 4-16 ohm range if its driven with a modern solid state power amp. Make your amp measurements with a similar resistive dummy load or perhaps a speaker rather than subjecting the head to any stress.

This is what I did for a while as my internals were a bit 'hissy.' Be aware that you might get some action on the VU as you start the machine - there is no load on the amp so this seems to give a weird response briefly and then it settlesmarkrob wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 1:59 pmHi,

Re: Schematic for Vanrock/Atom 101?
Atom/Vanrocks and Haras have a very low DC resistance, around 2 ohm or less, at least what I have measured... Coil wires are not vert thin..
I think they use a 6,5w@8ohm STK011

For the Atom/Vanrock - Wondering how you go about disconnecting the internal electronics and replacing with a different power amp to cutter head as described?
Has anyone actually done this?
Really interested in upgrading my unit.
If you find the schematics I would be interested in them as well.
