Don't buy it . I had one not that long ago and it sucked big time, no body can fix . And no spare parts .

If it costs a penny more than 2k dont bother. Even at that price it would be expensive.

They never worked well or made good recordings. Which is why they faded into obscurity.

Draw your own conclusions. I wouldn't buy one. But i might pick one out of the garbage. Not completely useless. But not worth a lot of hard earned cash.

Thanks y'all- yeah I'm gonna pass on this one-wants way too much money for it. Since my project is more old school anyway, gonna find something in that vein as I guess Souri isn't make his anymore

Souri still makes his VR. He is extremely selective about who he sells to. If you received an email saying:

"yes - but too less requests at moment. If more requests, we probably will do again a serie.

shall we put you on our mailing list ?"

This is how he brushes people to the side. Elegantly, I might add. You will never hear from him regarding his next series. I know someone who purchased a newly made system within the last 5 months.

If your going for a old school sound i would recommend a Presto or Rek o kut. I have a Presto and im surprised at how loud these machines cut when i have everything is dialed in.

They pop up on ebay from time to time. Some might need some repair but well worth it when its running smooth.

That's just it, Souri had agreed to sell to me, had sent the bank transfer info, told him I needed some more time to get funds together, he said no problem, then all of a sudden, no contact. It's ok, I'm just gonna move on.

Have been trolling eBay for the cutters suggested, sure something will come up.

I have an old 78 cutter collecting dust. Mono RCA head. Replaced most of the tubes. Motor works. Platter spins. The gear that makes the cutting arm move laterally is worn. It works. But needs to be replaced. I rewound the coil. Not sure what its worth to anybody.

This is the unit. It is the picture from the auction that I won many moons ago.
