Hello

I am new to the forum. I just signed in for the first time today. I requested membership a few weeks ago but just started reading and posting today. I am in my early 40s, and love all things mechanical. I live in upstate New York. I have always been a vinyl enthusiast. I've got a very modest record collection and a couple of nice turntables. I joined this forum to learn about the vinyl record making process and the equipment available to do it. I am a machine and gadget nerd with my own small machine tools. I am interested in all kinds of mechanical things and would really like to know about the machinery and processes that go into making a finished vinyl record. Both vintage and modern processes are interesting to me. I'll mostly be reading for the first little while but I will pop up and ask questions sometimes. I love to talk shop so if anyone wants to chat about things I should know as a beginner in this field feel free to message me.

Thanks
S&W

Hey, S&W,

I like your 'handle.' I'm just finishing up a bottle of Tempranillo that I find quite enjoyable, but my wife doesn't like it at all. More for me.

If you are into mechanics, this is one of the best hobbies you can find. My other love is mechanical television, another pursuit that requires high tolerances and a lot of patience. If you are handy with metal working tools, you can probably make a recording lathe in spare time. Go to YouTube and search 'record cutting,' 'recording lathe' and 'vinyl recorder.' You'll see a lot of very ingenious designs. The guys on this group are similarly innovative and eager to share.

Good luck!
