Utility of a pitch computer like Flokason

Hi eveybody,

I'm new to lacquer cutting and i would like to know what is the utility of pitch computer like the one made from Flokason: http://www.flokason.ch/fs_pitch13.html

I saw a couple of post on the web from people who own Scully lathe that have added a new pitch computer. How do you setup on of these and how do you use it to make better lacquer master?
