Quick question for UK T560 users (NJA760 cutting amp)

I'm getting the MCB tripping off at my rented studio occasionally, when I switch on my cutting amp at the start of the day (NJA760 - supplied as standard with the T560). The MCB on the consumer unit is rated B16 ... and I'm not sure that this is the correct rating needed, given that there'll be a current inrush upon switching the amp on.

Usually only takes one reset of the MCB for the amp to successfully switch on, and for the rest of the day there's no problem.

Can any UK T560 users confirm which rating of MCB is on the consumer unit for the circuit which they use for their T560 setup, please? Thanks

I'd say there is something wrong for sure, i run my room from a 16a ring with no problems at all, a 300w amp should not trip a 16a fuse.... I'm no electrician so someone with more experience will be able to advise properly but sure i'd say something else is wrong with either the amp, or the fuse itself

I have the same setup and hat the same effect -not very pleasant if all is prepared and you are ready to start cutting...
Go for something like this:

A pal has contacted me to say that he runs the exact same setup, and that works fine off a B32 MCB ... so I'm hoping that a move to a B32-protected circuit will resolve my problem

Thanks! I didn't know about the existence of an "inrush current limiter". So, do you use one of these? Are there any bad 'side-effects'?

Yes will work fine off of a 32, twice the power before it will trip the fuse... just be careful if there is an electrical fault causing the 16 to trip, which now will go unnoticed.

Also worth looking into a UPS if you have bad surges, at least that way your set up has some kind of barrier from the mains. My APC seems to work great and I run the full lathe and mastering studio from it.

Interesting: which APC unit do you use?

I use one of these, works fine and no problems observed so far. It's the same model that was used during the training in Germany.
Hope that helps.
