Things to look out for on a VR setup
Hi all I am planning on buying a VR and was looking for advise on setup. What people are using for turntable, amps etc or even a different system altogether
I'm planning on doing short runs of electronic music for my label and hopefully for others in the long run.
thanks

Get a Technics SP-10 MKII for the turntable. 1200's just don't have the torque.
Are you in the US? If so he won't sell you some stuff and you'll need to buy it in the states. I can fill you in on what I needed to buy if you came from the US like I did.

Yeah if you want to cut loud 12" for sound system use (which need to be cut at a reasonable volume) then a SP10 MKII for sure. Also no idea where you are based, but if you are in Europe this is a good place to buy a plinth to sit the SP10

Thanks for the advise, I'm based in the UK

Well, I use a 1200-GR with my VR (it has a similar 'footprint' to the mk2) and the torque is perfectly fine, I've had no wow/flutter issues at the outer edge of 12" cuts which was somewhat of an issue with the 1200 mk2 which I'd previously been usingsoeffingodly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 8:57 amGet a Technics SP-10 MKII for the turntable. 1200's just don't have the torque.

I'm using SP-15 and cutting loud and punchy hip-hop, so this one also works and cheaper than SP 10 MK2

I have both but SP-15's are known to go haywire and they have crazy chips that are not available anymore. That is why I upgraded when I got the chance.
