Kingston 5,665 GBP does seem quite alot more compared to the V.R. 2,623 GBP.

Currently affordability means I can have the V.R.

I would be using a Technics 1200MkII (upgraded?).

Theres alot of info/talk on these two cutting systems here on lathetrolls I'm aware.

Perhaps this is the wrong place to ask any questions or seek advice regarding my query/concern.

Anyhow amazing site lathetrolls,

All the best!

about the quality / performance / personal issues / other stuff almost everything was said just use the "search" function.

If you'll use 1200MKII you will have flutter regardless of the system. Precision plate solves that.

Totally not true. The precision plate will minimize flutter. It will not reduce it to zero...

And, you want a 1210 no a 1200. The 10's have more torque.

And, even if you do the resistor mod, you don't gain much torque. If you are serious track down an SP10.

thanks for the replys, cheers.

i was planning on the travel to Germany, meet Souri, purchase V.R. etc. and make do with 1200 whilst I begin to learn.

i found a site selling refurb'd SP-10's for around 3000GBP it seems!

i should jus get an affordable Neumann when it is possible i'm beginning to think!

i am serious about not wanting any flutter issue.

the V.R. adapts to an SP-10 with ease then?

All the best, thank you.

That is way too much for an sp-10. Watch ebay. I've seen them with power supply in good shape for $1,000 USD.

Neumann lathes are never affordable... That would be like saying I'll buy a Porsche I find an affordable one. You get what you pay for. If you want top shelf don't expect a discount. Minimum for a Neumann in good shape is $20K USD.

Flutter is not the only issue to avoid. Though it is a serious one. Again, if you can't find an sp10 you should get a 1210 M5G not a 1200. 1210's have more torque.

Both the VinylRecorder and the Kingston Dubplate cutter are made to fit on a standard reocrd player. The sp10 is a standard record player. Thus, both systems will fit ok.

Do you plan on only cutting plastic discs? FYI - You can't cut lacquers on the VinylReocrder without modification.

SL1200MK2= silver
SL1210MK2= black
inside it is exactly the same.
but maybe with reflecting the energy the silver colored deliver more torque?hehe.

no it is exactly the same inside.
go for an sp10. thats the best you can do....

Just looked at the specs for 1200MK2 and a 1210M5G and in fact they are both 1.5 kg-cm. Thanks for the correction Flo! My bad...

I was going by feel. 1210M5G's feel snappier than my 1200MK2's. Feels like they have more torque. Perhaps it is just the newer quartz control that accounts for what feels like more torque?

SP10 MK2 = 5 kg-cm

SP10 MK3 = 10 kg-cm

Both advertised as having zero flutter.

ok thanks for the info.

..have been reading through the kingston manual i downloaded, it seems a wonderful bit of kit!

however i doubt i will ever cut master records/laquer.

for me personally the V.R. is hopefully the best choice, but for now i will have to source an sp-10 to begin with.

thanks for that advice people.

i'm in the u.k. so would need a u.k. psu for an sp-10.

hope i can find a complete sp-10 setup for sale.. anyone reading this perhaps?

let me know if so, cheers!
