Caruso Pre-order starts now.
Caruso Pre-order starts now.
*************************************************************
Finally. after almost exactly two years I can announce now some good news!
We worked last 2 days like crazy and the result is a nice working Caruso Cutterhead.
The first fully working caruso stereo Cutterhead was finished. and 3 mores are 90% ready.
The drive system is super solid and I decided now to go to moving coil Feedback.
So it is time to launch the zero series now and I am ready to take some pre-orders.
- I will do 10 - 20 heads as a first series.
- the first caruso order will be black anodized aluminum body only.
- the heads will be shipped in the order of the money arrives on my account. order is accepted when money is arrived.
- price is SFR 1500 including the 2 caruso pcbs plus shipping costs depending on your country. i can declare as a gift (custom value $50) on request. or you can pick up the head personally.
so i try to get at least 10 pre-orders until end of may. if I get enough orders i will start production by 1st of june.
please send me a mail for a pre-order directly to:
flo {at} floka (dot) com.
then i will send you the ordering email with all the conditions.
please only order at the moment if you are aware that:
- it is still in a zero series status. so some parts can slightly change.
- that delivery time is approx. 3 month max.
- the performance is not same as SX74. we will see how good it is, but if you buy a grampian for $1000 on ebay without any warranties or bought a souri cutter, i think you have nothing to loose.
- if you want an sx74, then buy an sx74. it will be something different.
- every order gets status -email about important milestones...
- i will ship every head tested and measured.
- i will provide repair and upgrade service.
- the coils can handle 0.6A current for at least 15min steady current.
- the stylus holder works for neumann, vinylium and vinylike 1:20 styli. maybe souri will also work.
technical data (can still change a little bit)
********************************************************
drive coil dc resistance: 5.2 ohm (+/- 0.1 ohm)
FB coil resistance: 20 ohm
main resonance: 1000 Hz.
stylus: 1:20 cone

That sounds great Flo! As im sure im not the only one who would like to mount one of these on a 6n, could you tell us what kind of modifications we would need to make? And also, being non-electronically minded, what do i have to do in terms of electronics to make this work with a standard PA power amplifier?

Neumann to Presto
Piaptik (sic)
I think if you search Caruso on this forum then you will find mechanical details, I seem to remember you need to make an adapter.
Neumann to Presto, I seem to remember it was discussed, I wish I had the money right now for a Caruso head.
or can one of the moderators can put in a link to that post?

Thanks Flo, I knew it had been discussed on here but could not remember if the information was on your blog/website.
I will not be in the bidding for first batch but will start saving in earnest for a later batch of the Caruso head. Not that you're that far down the line yet......but great news that it will be coming to market.
