Caruso Prototype

just a small update on caruso.

i have all important parts for the prototype on my desk.
magnetic systems built. just the drive coils to wind....
so just need a rainy day and put together the stuff and build some assembly tools.
and of course. heavy testing then....

what i can confirme now is the price for the "early bird" order list.
i also preordered some of the critical parts to accelerate a first production.

I will announce when i start taking orders. i guess i will do it beginning of august. because i want to have a easy chiller summer...hehe.

i will let you know whenever i am ready. but it looks quite good.

First opera star to take advantage of a brand new technology - the gramophone - to further his career:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enrico_Caruso

"His 1907 acoustic recording of "Vesti la giubba" was the first phonograph/gramophone record to sell a million copies"

yes some slight progress.havent worked too much on that.
i did yesterday the first measurments of the drivesystem under a laser vibrometer.

resonance frequency is exact where it was calculated. 1000 Hz..
excursion of +/- 100 um is reached with no mechanical limits.
current is approx 1 A for reaching the +/- 100um.

so all is quite as previewed and calculated.
also major parts for 10 heads are on its way.
one part i had to reject (out of my specs) so they have to redo..

also i just serviced my coilwinder and have to adapt for the caruso drivecoils.

hope to have the head together next week. and then verify the feedback system.

if all works as i want i will start with the preorders. not before.
expecting that in about 3 weeks.

Hello Flo ,
many thanks for those informations .

Neumann says in his manual than the max excusion for a sx74 is +/- 150um,

and I don t know how to interpret that ... is it possible to have more detail ?
in advance many thanks
